What makes a password strong?
A strong password is long, unpredictable and unique. Length matters most: every extra character multiplies the number of combinations an attacker must try. A random 16-character password mixing letters, numbers and symbols is practically impossible to guess with current technology.
How this generator works
This tool uses the Web Crypto API built into modern browsers (crypto.getRandomValues), which provides cryptographically secure random numbers. Passwords are generated locally and are never transmitted or logged.
Best practices
- Use at least 14–16 characters for important accounts.
- Never reuse the same password on multiple sites.
- Store passwords in a reputable password manager.
- Enable two-factor authentication wherever possible.
- Avoid personal details such as birthdays or pet names.
Common password mistakes
Patterns like "123456", "password" or keyboard sequences are cracked in seconds. Adding a single symbol to a dictionary word offers little protection. True randomness is the best defense.
Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to generate passwords online?
With this tool, yes: generation happens entirely inside your browser and nothing is sent to our servers.
What length should I choose?
At least 14 characters is recommended, and 16 or more for banking, email and other critical accounts.
Should I include symbols?
Symbols increase strength, but length is more important. If a site rejects symbols, use a longer password instead.
